It never fails, the first time I meet with the team I hear " I can't do yoga" or "I am not flexible." I always respond with "of course you can" and "yoga will help." There is an idea of what you SHOULD look like. Yoga isn't about the perfect pose or looking a certain way. It's about being in your body. It's about being in the moment. It's about getting out of your comfort zone. It's about being willing to be vulnerable. It's about showing up for yourself. Athletes want to win. Everything has the potential to turn into a competition. There is no winning in yoga. I believe that once athletes surrender to that idea, the magic happens. They get stronger. They learn to listen to their body. They are present. They prevent injury. They restore their body and mind. And their narrative changes. Just like their is "no crying in baseball", , there is "no winning in yoga".
